Marcos Rodrigues joins Aprender Design’s faculty to teach Digital Product Design, where he will unravel the process behind translating tangible and intangible aspects of brand identity into interactive design languages and behaviors. According to Marcos, understanding and defining the main challenges while placing the user at the center of the equation allows for a more empathetic design approach.

Born of a desire to celebrate Brazilian creativity, Extinção? is a new zine from photographer Igor Furtado, designed by PORTO ROCHA. A reaction to the lack of cultural institutions willing to support Latin American narratives, the publication showcases the talent of creatives from all over the country, featuring more than 80 emerging artists’ visual and written artworks. Focusing specifically on the climate emergency, Extinção? explores the ways in which the crisis ties in with the natural history of Brazil.

With contributions from over 80 emerging creatives, Extinção? examines art and community in the face of the climate crisis.

TDC Awards Winner: Logo Design

Our logo design for the pet-parent platform The Wildest has been awarded at The Type Directors Club! This year's winners were selected from over 2000 entries from 62 countries. Out of nearly 700 entries, our cover for Chani Nicholas’ bestselling book, You Were Born For This, was selected as one of the top 50 book cover designs of 2020. “The cover design, the reflective foil, the typeface all allow the title to do its thing. Portfolio Reviews with Espaço.cc

In partnership with Espaço.cc, a cultural and educational nonprofit institution based in Brazil, Felipe and Leo will be hosting 15 portfolio reviews, including 7 sessions free of charge for social minorities throughout the month of July. The reviews promote a space for dialog and learning between the PORTO ROCHA and designers seeking to build and enhance their portfolios. Applications are now open.

Live Talks!

We were invited by Live! to share our favorite projects and creative process while quarantining from home. Live! is a series of live talks on Instagram with a focus on the creative industry. The coronavirus outbreak has many people, designers and non-designers, working remotely and housebound. The idea is to fight quarantine, boredom and, most importantly, to instill hope.

The New York Times: Your Favorite Internet Astrologer Wrote a Book

We collaborated with Chani Nicholas on the cover design of her new book, You Were Born For This: Astrology for Radical Self Acceptance. Since its release, the book has gone on to sell over 30,000 books in just three months, solidifying its place as a New York Times bestseller. Through Chani’s contemporary reimagining of the zodiac, her audience only continues to grow. A testament to her widespread popularity, Chani cultivates new perspectives on radical self-acceptance today that resonate throughout each chapter of her debut book.

Felipe Rocha was invited to be a judge at the 13th edition of the Brazilian Graphic Design Biennial. The biennial is organized by the Association of Graphic Designers in Brazil and has become the most important graphic design event in the country.

Leo Porto wins Young Guns 17

In a year that could arguably be described as the most diverse class in Young Guns history, a jury of more than 60 respected creatives spent two months reviewing hundreds of submissions from a record 45 different countries. After several rounds of judging, the jury ultimately selected 28 Young Guns. We are excited to share Leo's win and his interview with The One Club where he talks about his favorite projects, creative style and influences.
